PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (GISL) -- On Thursday June 9, 2016, the National Family Services Division of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services hosted a Parent Support Workshop at the CL Financial Building Annex.
This workshop was facilitated by Mr Steve Williams who proved to be quite a dynamic and motivational speaker as he sought to educate parents on how to deal with situations related to their children and how to improve their parent-child relationships.
The workshop commenced at 9:30 am and was well attended. The catered amount was thirty individuals and there was indeed a full house. Mr Williams executed the workshop similar to that of a lecture with the aid of an effective PowerPoint presentation that captured the attention of the audience with its visual enhancements. The interactive aspect of the session kept it interesting and provided a platform for persons to acquire some additional parenting skills.
Incorporating humour and real life situations, the speaker was able to maintain the interests of participants for the entire seminar. He contrasted past trends to the changing world we live in today, highlighting modern developments such as social media, technology and new norms and values. Participants concluded that parenting now is undoubtedly different from in the past and because of the generation gap, parents need to change their approaches and keep abreast of the fluid environment.
A well versed speaker, attentive audience and positive interaction provided an efficacious workshop that most individuals appreciated. The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services was proud to host such an event and is continues to provide avenues for the holistic development of its related staff.
