KINGSTON, Jamaica (UTECH) -- The University of Technology, Jamaica will host a Public Forum headlined, “Brexit: Old Relations, New Perspectives” on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Lecture Theatre 9A, Faculty of Education & Liberal Studies (FELS), UTech, Jamaica Papine campus. The public forum is intended to advance national discourse on the implications of the United Kingdom’s recent decision to cease membership in the European Union and its impact for Jamaica and CARICOM and to advance Jamaica’s preparation for Brexit within the context of opportunities, threats and solutions.
Presenters include His Excellency David Fitton, CMG, British High Commissioner to Jamaica; Prof. Rosalea Hamilton, Vice President, Community Service & Development, UTech, Ja. who will be speaking on Globalization: Old Opportunities and New Threats; Dr. Locksley Henry, Lecturer, College of Business and Management, UTech, Ja. who will share on the Significance of the Commonwealth of Nations pre and post Brexit; Dr. Wayne Henry, Director General, Planning Institute of Jamaica who will address Macroeconomic and Financial Implications of Brexit and Prof. Colin Gyles, Acting President, UTech, Jamaica. Other presenters will also share perspectives related to the traditional preferential exports and new export opportunities in the UK and Europe.
